Tickets

You must purchase a BART ticket to use the system. BART tickets are like debit cards with stored value. All BART stations have automatic ticket vending machines that accept USD up to $20 bills. You can also use a credit card in select machines.

When you enter BART, insert your ticket into the fare gate and it will be returned to you. Use the same ticket when you exit. The correct fare will be automatically deducted and tickets with remaining value will be returned. It might be good to add extra value to your BART ticket so you do not have to purchase multiple tickets when you visit other areas of the bay area.

Schedule

Visit the BART QuickPlanner to look up BART times and use the convenient printable schedule version to take a copy with you. You can also check the BART System Map and calculate fares from the airport.

If you have an early morning weekend flight, please note that BART service begins at 6 a.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. on Sundays.

UC BERKELEY CAMPUS SHUTTLES

If you would like to use our Bear Transit daytime campus shuttles to get to and from the conference locations and the Hotel Shattuck Plaza, please review the Bear Transit information at their website. It will cost $1 USD per ride on the campus shuttles for any non-university affiliated persons.

In the mornings and early evenings, you could take the Central Campus via Hearst Avenue Line which would pick up at the Downtown Berkeley BART station at Shattuck Ave. and Addison St. and runs about every 20 minutes starting at 6:45 a.m. You will take the shuttle 6 stops to Moffitt Library on University Drive. Moffitt Library is where the first day of meetings will be held. You could also use this shuttle for the second day of meetings in the Alumni House, but you will need to walk directly east past the Valley Life Sciences Building, Dwinelle Hall and Dwinelle Annex before arriving at the Alumni House across from Zellerbach Playhouse. This shuttle ends service from 11:00 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. and then will start service again until 7:15 p.m.

In the weekday evenings (past 7:30 p.m.), it would be best to take the Night Safety South Side Line. You will pick up the shuttle outside of the C.V. Starr East Asian Library across from the Moffitt Library and take it for 3 stops, where it will drop you off right at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza at Shattuck Ave. and Allston Way.
